The Punisher Won’t Have That Many Connections To The Defenders

It looks like The Punisher won't have that many connections with the other Marvel superhero series even though Daredevil (Charlie Cox), Jessica Jones (Krysten Ritter), Luke Cage (Mike Colter) and Danny Rand (Finn Jones) have already gotten together in The Defenders.

Frank Castle star Jon Bernthal just answered a fan's question on Entertainment Weekly'sSpoiler Room segment about whether The Defenders would connect with The Punisher, and according to the Marvel star, viewers shouldn't expect anyone aside from Karen Page (Deborah Ann Woll) in the series.

"We are stripping down every supernatural element. This show is different. It looks different. Frank is a character rooted in the most basic human emotions… He's a comic-book character, but he doesn't fly, he doesn't have X-ray vision. He's an unbelievably skilled soldier who's been very, very angry and very, very hurt."

It's a refreshing idea that the Marvel Netflix series won't be having any ninjas or members of the Hand. The Punisher's always been a gritty character, so it makes sense for The Punisher to take a different path. Besides, The Punisher's story is going to explore Frank's days in the military in a series of flashbacks way, way before he met the Devil of Hell's Kitchen in Daredevil.

The Punisher doesn't have a release date just yet, but we'll let everyone know as soon as we get word.
