The Next Overwatch Hero Is 'Not Who You Think It Is'

For months, a lot of hype had been building around the Overwatch community for the release of a new playable character called Doomfist. Everything from clues in the PTR map to Terry Crews' involvement have been making their rounds online, but it looks like Doomfist won't be the 24th hero coming to the game.

According to the Battle.Net forums, Kaplan has confirmed that "24 is not who you think it is," and the developer team is having "multiple new heroes being worked on right now." With all the hype pointing out to Doomfist for the past months, it's a mystery on which character will make their debut on the next update.

As pointed out by Eurogamer, the next character could be someone simply known as "Greek" and he's said to be the main hero connected to the Ilios map in the game. There's still no clue on his appearance or abilities, but pictures of other Overwatch members who aren't in the game are present in the short Overwatch video, Recall.

People who have been following the Doomfist speculation will also remember that the character originated from what was initially a McGuffin for the cinematic trailer where Reaper and Widowmaker rumble with Winston and Tracer in a museum. Since Kaplan has teased that this upcoming hero isn't going to be Doomfist, it's possible that fans (and Terry Crews) will just have to wait for an update from the developers.

Overwatch is currently playable for PC, Xbox One, and PS4.
