The Matrix Resurrections finally unveiled its nostalgia-inducing and trippy AF trailer and it no longer comes as a shock how fans who grew up watching the original trilogy from the late '90s to the early 2000s were more than thrilled to see Neo and Trinity back. However, despite all the hype the teaser was able to deliver, the majority of fans are on the fence about one aesthetic aspect of the film and that is Neo aka Thomas Anderson's look which is both new and familiar.

You see, for years now, lead star Keanu Reeves has been sporting his now-iconic long hair and scruffy look which people have grown accustomed to. However, Keanu's "trademark" look has been associated with his John Wick persona for the longest time, and the fact that Neo all of a sudden shares a striking resemblance to Baba Yaga put fans in a state of bewilderment.

On Twitter, Reeves became a hot topic following the release of The Matrix 4's trailer with a lot of people saying that the actor should've at least ditched his John Wick look while filming the fourth Matrix sequel. Check out the reactions here:

I'm not gonna lie, I also found it weird how Keanu retained his current look for Neo and what's even more baffling is the fact that Warner Bros., a studio known for meddling "a little too much" with its projects seemingly didn't intervene and asked the actor to revert back to his iconic Neo appearance.

But before you get completely bummed out about it, it's worth noting that Keanu actually changed his appearance as he was filming the project in Berlin last year. Paparazzi photos surfaced last October which see Keanu sporting a buzz cut and a clean-shaven face so it would be safe to assume that the actor will actually ditch his signature look at one point in the film. I guess we'll just have to wait and see.

The Matrix Resurrections hits cinemas and HBO Max this December.
