The Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Next Big Bad Reportedly Revealed

The Marvel Cinematic Universe took ten years to get to Thanos, indubitably the biggest villain in the franchise. Now that Avengers: Endgame's in the middle of its theatrical run and now that Thanos has come and gone, fans are wondering what other villain Marvel might bring into the MCU.

According to a new report, there's a rumor going around saying that Marvel might introduce Norman Osborn as the next big bad of the franchise. The Independent has a new report on MCU Phase 4 leaks, and apparently one of Marvel Studios plans is to have Osborn play a major role in a series of upcoming films. That's if, Sony Pictures decides to extend its deal with Marvel Studios for its Spider-Man characters.

For those who aren't familiar with the character, Norman Osborn, is otherwise known as the Green Goblin, a villain so very closely tied to Spider-Man. Adopting a Halloween-themed appearance, Goblin terrorizes New York city with his Goblin Glider and with his arsenal of high-tech weapons. Osborn sometimes works together with other supervillains associated with Spider-Man like Doctor Octopus and Mysterio. The character even works with groups like the Sinister Six and the Dark Avengers.

We're not quite sure whether or not Osborn will be one of the major villains of the MCU, but we're fairly certain that he won't be on the same level as the Mad Titan Thanos. We're assuming Marvel will use another cosmic villain for that.

Avengers: Endgame is currently screening in cinemas.
