The Batman: Josh Gad Actually has a Good Chance at Playing The Penguin

Beauty and the Beast star Josh Gad had actually been campaigning for the role of the Penguin in the DCEU, and it's been rumored that the Cobblepot will be one of the villains in Matt Reeves' upcoming Batman movie. Though no one has officially been cast in the role, there's actually a good chance of Gad landing it since he has it in with the director.

According to The GWW's Thomas Polito, Reeves and Gad are actually ‘good friends.' This is Polito's post:

Of course, that doesn't really mean that Gad could land the role. Personally, I think Gad looks too friendly to play a villain in this franchise. I would go for someone older like Ian McShane or Simon Russell Beale. He was hilariously ruthless in The Death of Stalin.

Beale is the guy in black:

Then again, it's still possible that Gad could completely wow us as the Penguin if he was given the chance. I mean, everyone didn't think that Heath Ledger would make a great Joker. It's been more than 10 years after The Dark Knight came out, and everyone is still waiting for a villain that could top Ledger's Clown Prince of Crime.

At best, I think the Penguin will just have a small role in the movie with the main focus set on this unnamed villain. At best, Batman takes down the Penguin to give us a look at his regular day as Batman, then this mystery guy comes along and gives the Caped Crusader a run for his money.

Take note, that's just my guess. I'm always hopeful that the movies never turn out how I predict them.

No release date has been set for The Batman.
