Earlier this month, reports went around regarding Venom 2 director Andy Serkis is in talks to play Alfred Pennyworth in The Batman. And now, director Matt Reeves brings forth good news!

Reeves recently took to Twitter to make the news official. Serkis will play Bruce Wayne's butler, Alfred. As seen from Reeves' tweet below, the director shared a clip of Serkis going down a red carpet with a big smile while high-fiving fans. Reeves writes, "And here comes Alfred!" Along with a bat emoji. You can check it out below.

Serkis and Reeves actually previously worked together on the movies Dawn of the Planet of the Apes as well as War for the Planet of the Apes.

Serkis will now join The Batman cast along with Robert Pattinson, who, we all know, will be the lead. As well as Jeffrey Wright as commissioner Jim Gordon, Zoe Kravitz as Catwoman, and Paul Dano as Riddler.

There hasn't been any update with regards to Colin Farrell though. If you recall, along with the Serkis news is that Farrell is revealed to have been in talks for a role as well, but this time, for the infamous Penguin. And now that Serkis is confirmed to join The Batman, it won't be unlikely if Farrell actually got the role. But then again, this could drop anytime seeing as 21 Jump Street star Jonah Hill was in talks for the villain role as well, but the deal didn't go through.

Besides the cast, there haven't been many details about the movie since most of the information is kept under wraps, so we could only wait for updates for now.

The Batman is slated for release on June 25, 2021.
