Rumours about Taylor Swift securing a role in Deadpool & Wolverine have been going on since October 2023. It is said that she is set to make a brief cameo appearance as the MCU’s version of the mutant Dazzler, but nothing has ever been solidified until now.

Swift’s newest and 11th album, The Tortured Poets Department (TTPD), was released on April 19. It includes a track titled Clara Bow, in which she sings the word “dazzling” as part of the chorus.

Despite sounding like a reach at first glance, this made both Swifties and MCU fans speculate more about her alleged role in Deadpool & Wolverine, where she may appear as the mutant Dazzler. However, it is still unclear whether this will be simply a one-time cameo appearance or a full-fledged role that will mark Swift’s foray into the MCU.

The MCU and its president, Kevin Feige, are well-known for their outstanding casting capabilities, which often give actors a character they eventually become “one and synonymous” with, like how Robert Downey Jr. is the Iron Man. If the MCU has indeed secured Swift for their version of the Dazzler in Deadpool & Wolverine, then they may have hit another jackpot as the Dazzler is known for her ability to take the sound of music and transform it into light beams.

It is worth noting that besides being a star-studded singer, Swift is also known for her movie appearances and roles, like in the infamous Cats (2019), where she played Bombalurina. She also holds the record for the highest-grossing concert film of all time thanks to Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour, which earned $261.7 million at the box office. Many Swifties worldwide considered the film a “movement” in pop culture, similar to how every MCU fan gathered to watch 2019’s Avengers: Endgame in cinemas.

As per Deadpool & Wolverine’s director Shawn Levy, he has already responded to the October 2023 rumours, mainly remaining neutral on the topic. However, he has yet to respond to this fresh news and rumours.

“‘No comment’ because that’s a double whammy. That’s Taylor-related. And it’s MCU-related. I’m no dummy.” Levy evasively told The Wrap during an October 2023 interview.

Similarly, Deadpool and Wolverine’s leading actor, Ryan Reynolds, also addressed the rumours using director Levy’s no-comment/neutral stance.

"Yeah, I’ve heard that one. I love it (the gossip). I think it is a sign of how eager people are to get a peek behind the curtain in this world. Every single one of these secrets and spoilers will be revealed on July 26." Reynolds said during an interview with the Vancouver Sun on November 2023.

What this all means for fans is that Deadpool & Wolverine has many secrets under its sleeves that are heavily guarded by its cast and staff, and Taylor Swift's appearance as the Dazzler is just one of its many surprises.

Deadpool & Wolverine is set to slash the big screens worldwide on July 26, 2024.
