Suicide Squad 2: Jared Leto Praises Sequel’s Director

Though a lot of fans are admittedly disappointed with Jared Leto's Joker in Suicide Squad, Leto himself has been letdown by how much of his actual performance didn't make it to the film. Talking to Collider, Leto talks about his future in the DCEU as well as his thoughts on sequel director Gavin O'Connor.

On Leto's future as the Joker, he explains:

"A lot of moving parts, we'll see what happens."

As for new director O'Connor, Leto had nothing but nice things to say about him:

"I think Gavin is incredibly talented, he seems to be the perfect director for Suicide Squad 2. I think he's a really gifted filmmaker and I really love his work."

Original Suicide Squad director David Ayer had passed directing the sequel in order to focus on the all-girl DC team of Gotham City Sirens, but as of now, it looks like that project is also going to take a while to get off the ground. So far it seems DC is more positive on the release of Suicide Squad 2.

Though the movie was a critical dud, I still think there are things worth salvaging from it. Margot Robbie and Will Smith were just the best when it came to Harley Quinn and Deadshot, and I definitely want to see a more competent Captain Boomerang when the sequel comes around. How does a boomerang wielding oaf like him rival the likes of The Flash?

As of now, no official release date has been set for Suicide Squad 2, but the movie is set to start production next year and could possibly come out sometime in 2019.
