Steven Moffat's Dracula Series Gets Creepy Teaser Trailer

Sherlock fans are in for a treat. The first teaser for Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss' new TV series Dracula is finally here and it's filled with creepy visuals.

The teaser opens with a sweeping look at Dracula's castle and we're immediately shown a young man, presumably Jonathan Harker, knocking on the massive door. From there, it gets very creepy as a man's eye seemingly consumes a fly that has landed on his face.

There's a bloody hand, a dirty fingernail that gets pushed aside, nuns with stakes, and a brief look at the Demeter, the ship that would later transport the count to England. Oh, and don't forget the terrifying creature coming out of a crate.

Anyone who has read Bram Stoker's book would already have an idea of what's going to happen in the TV series but it's also pretty obvious that Moffat and Gatiss are giving the old story a new spin. The teaser concludes with what appears to be Harker looking terrified as Dracula touches his face. "Try and stay calm," the villain says. "You're doing very well."

Dracula stars Claes Bang as the titular vampire. The cast also includes John Heffernan, Dolly Wells, Joanna Scanlan, Morfydd Clark, and Lujza Richter. Gatiss will appear in the series along with former Game of Thrones star Clive Russell, who played the Blackfish in the HBO series.

The Dracula series has not yet been given an official release date. However, it is expected to premiere on BBC in December before being streamed on Netflix shortly after.
