In The Rise of Skywalker, it was revealed that Emperor Palpatine is still alive and he is determined to get his hands on Rey. Why? Well, the villain insists that Kylo Ren already knows the reason. Amazingly, the truth is revealed later when Kylo confronts Rey in Kijimi.

Kylo tells Rey that she is actually the granddaughter of Palpatine himself, as her father was his son. Her parents (played by Jodie Comer and Billy Howle) had sent her away because Palpatine wanted to kill her. Why? Well, he's not really the Best Granddad in the Galaxy because he was supposedly in fear of her growing powers.

This may come as a surprise for people who had accepted that Rey's parents were "nobodies" but Kylo justifies this by claiming that her parents chose to be regular people who didn't want to be associated with Palpatine (gee, I wonder why). Nevertheless, that doesn't take away the fact that she's got that man's blood running through her veins.

We won't tell you what happens next but it's somehow a relief (and some might say it's a disappointment) to finally know the truth about Rey. At least, all those crazy theories (Palpatine's clone, Obi-Wan Kenobi's love child, and many others) will now get to rest.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker is currently screening in theaters worldwide.
