Star Wars: The Last Jedi Wins At PETA’s Oscats Awards

Star Wars: The Last Jedi has just earned top honors at the Oscats Awards.

Though the critically-acclaimed Star Wars film didn't rake in as many nominations at this year's Oscars, Lucasfilm's latest sequel trilogy installment just recently received awards for Best Live-Action Movie and Best Original Screenplay for positive animal welfare storylines by the People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals' first-ever Oscats Awards.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the awards were given to The Last Jedi because of that sequence in Canto Bight where Rose (Kelly Marie Tran) and Finn (John Boyega) went out of their way to free the fathiers that the rich used for racing. They were also recognized by PETA for that moment where Chewbecca decided not to eat the Porg that he was roasting for dinner.

The Last Jedi had quite a number of incredible new aliens and creatures, including the Crystal Foxes or the Vulptexes on Crait, the Caretakers on Ahch-To, and the Thala Sirens which Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) took green milk from. Of course we won't forget mentioning the fan favorite Porgs, the squawking wide-eyed curiosities that manage to nab the hearts of fans around the globe.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi gets its Digital HD release on March 18 and its Blu-Ray and DVD elease on March 27.
