Star Wars The Last Jedi: Watch Mark Hamill Get Emotional as He's Reunited with Frank Oz

Some people may have thought that Yoda looked odd in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, but the puppet was nothing but a faithful recreation of the original from Empire Strikes Back. New BTS clips are coming out online thanks to the home release of TLJ, and one has Mark Hamill getting emotional over being reunited with Frank Oz and the Yoda puppet.

Check it out:

"I'm still upset that [Frank Oz] hasn't aged a day. I've aged… tragically"

Though recent iterations of Yoda have him brought to life by CGI, director Rian Johnson thought that the original muppet version of the character was the one that had a more emotional connection with Luke. Surely Hamill wouldn't have had the same reaction if he just had to act opposite a tennis ball on a stick.

Some people think that the reason Yoda looked weird in the film was because we weren't used to seeing his puppet version in full HD; back then, we would just have our VHS resolutions when we saw Yoda. I still think that the puppet looked cool, and I certainly prefer kooky ESB Yoda as compared to stern prequel Yoda.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits digital March 13, and Blu-Ray on March 27.
