Star Wars: The Last Jedi Trailer Expected To Come Much, Much Later This Year

Though Lucasfilm has slowly been updating fans with new info on the different planets and characters in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, fans are still itching to see the highly anticipated sequel trilogy installment's first official trailer. The teaser trailer was terribly short, and many are hoping to see new footage at this year's D23 Expo at the Anahiem Convention center next month.

However, while many hope that Lucasfilm drops The Last Jedi trailer might pop up at biennial exposition event, Screen Rant expects the trailer to come in much, much later. According to the site, if Lucasfilm is following its marketing campaign pattern for The Force Awakens to a tee, it's unlikely that fans are going to get new The Last Jedi trailer till October or November this year.

Like its predecessor, The Last Jedi's first official teaser debuted in April during its year of release. With The Force Awakens getting its first trailer during the start of ticket sales in October, many speculate that the Lucasfilm marketing team could do the same for The Last Jedi.

Though many might argue that The Last Jedi could follow Rogue One's marketing pattern where the April teaser was followed by a trailer in August and in October 2016, the film was a spin-off that had nothing to do with the sequel trilogy.

Of course, there's nothing really wrong with hoping to see new footage at upcoming conventions like the D23 and the San Diego Comic-Con. However, with Disney gaining more from keeping quiet on the trailer till later this year, it's very unlikely that we'll see a new trailer this July.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas on December 15, 2017.
