Star Wars: The Last Jedi Leak: Benicio del Toro's Character Related To This Bad Family

A supposed leak hints at the identity of the character that Benicio del Toro might be playing in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. It looks like his bad guy role, which the actor already confirmed a couple of years ago, will have his roots in another big bad family: the Fetts, who carry a grudge against the Jedi.

The Sunday Express reported the unconfirmed leak before it was removed from the wikiwand website. The site listed del Toro's filmography, and placed beside his credentials in Star Wars: The Last Jedi a character name: VIkrum Fett.

The last character who carried that name in the Star Wars universe, chronology-wise, was Boba Fett, the best bounty hunter in the galaxy. In Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back, Darth Vader contracted him to track down the Millennium Falcon and capture Han Solo (Harrison Ford), Princess Leia (Carrie Fisher), and the rest of their rebel team. Solo served only as a bait to lure Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) into Vader's hands. With that trap in place, Fett got his payment - Solo encased in carbonite - and brought him to Jabba the Hutt's lair to receive an even bigger fee.

Boba Fett eventually met his end when Luke rescued Leia and Han from Jabba in Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. Solo's accidental slamming of a pole into his backpack sent him straight into the man-eating pit which Jabba had reserved for Luke.

Boba Fett's anger for all things Jedi started when his father, Jango Fett, was killed by Jedi Master Mace Windu (Samuel L. Jackson) in the prequels. Jango was also a bounty hunter who fought against the interests of the Republic.

If this Vikrum Fett that del Toro is allegedly playing is related to the bounty hunters, he could be a son, grandson, nephew, or any other male relative of Boba. He could also be one of the last remaining clones that Jango created of himself to succeed him. Regardless of how he is related to Jango or Boba, though, there is a huge chance that Vikrum might also have taken up his family's age-old conflict against the Jedi.

Vikrum might even want to exact revenge on the last remaining members of the Skywalker family - or the last remaining Jedi. (Foreign translations of the film's title confirm that there may be more than one.) In any case, especially with del Toro chomping up the scenery, we can expect not just another Jedi vs. Sith lightsabre tussle, but a blood feud launched by one family, the Fetts, against another, the Skywalkers.

There could be shades of Star Wars-meets-The Godfather. Del Toro who has played mobsters and mafiosos in previous films could easily fit into this scenario.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi is directed by Rian Johnson and stars Mark Hamill, Daisy Ridley, John Boyega, Oscar Isaacs, and Carrie Fisher. It will open in theaters on December 15, 2017.
