Star Wars: The Last Jedi Has Become 2018’s Top Selling Blu-Ray Release

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have been one of the most divisive films in the Star Wars franchise so far, but it looks like the sequel to The Force Awakens continues to be a critical and commercial success.

Not only did The Last Jedi rake in a whopping $1.33 billion at the box office during its run in cinemas last year, but the film has also become the most successful Blu-Ray release of 2019. The Last Jedi movie sold more than three million units since the film got its home release in March.

The Numbers has a new report on the amount the film's managed to rake in, and it looks like The Last Jedi has managed to gather $69.41 million worldwide for its Blu-ray release. Black Panther comes in a close second with a total of $59.31 million. Thor: Ragnarok comes at third with its $52.63 million haul.

Meanwhile, Avengers: Infinity War, the most successful film of the year, has yet to be put up on the list since the Marvel movie just recently hit Blu-Ray. Analysts expect Infinity War to sail past and overtake The Last Jedi in its home release sales by the end of the year.

Still, a success is a success, and for now The Last Jedi wears the crown – which is a surprise considering that there was a vocal group that clamored against the film and claimed that they would not purchase the film's home release. Guess The Last Jedi has its supporters after all.
