Star Wars: The Last Jedi Director Rian Johnson Tells Fans To Skip Tonight’s Trailer

Lucasfilm might be rolling out for Star Wars: The Last Jedi's first full trailer today, however, while most fans are itching to watch brand new footage from the highly anticipated sequel trilogy installment, director Rian Johnson says it might be best to skip the preview.

Earlier this month, Star Wars legend Mark Hamill let spill that the very first trailer of The Last Jedi would be released during the Monday Night Football game between the Minnesota Vikings and the Chicago Bears on October 9, and last weekend Lucasfilm confirmed the trailer drop with a couple of new teasers.

Now, Johnson's telling fans to "absolutely avoid" the preview if they want to have a fresh movie experience when they watch The Force Awakens sequel in cinemas this December. Posting on Twitter, the Star Wars director openly responded to a question posed by a fan asking whether it would be alright to avoid The Last Jedi's new trailer at all costs to avoid spoilers to the upcoming film.

Johnson's answer doesn't come as a surprise. The director has been telling fans to avoid everything in preparation for The Last Jedi, and while trailers are meant to be harmless previews of upcoming films, they do give away quite a number of details to fans.

Still, we expect a lot of fans to tune in when the trailer drops later tonight – because really, who can resist watching the first full trailer of The Last Jedi that everyone's been waiting for?

Star Wars: The Last Jedi hits cinemas December 15, 2017.
