Star Wars: The High Republic Writer Shares More Details About New Wookie Jedi

Star Wars: The High Republic is going to usher us in a brand-new era of Jedi stories, which has a lot of us excited. This era won't tie-in to any upcoming movies, giving the writers and artists a lot of freedom to tell whatever story they want with the Jedi. We've seen plenty of art that has led to plenty of speculation, including a younger Yoda and a new Wookie Jedi.

Charles Soule, who will write the High Republic novel Light of the Jedi and has written a number of Star Wars comics for Marvel, has detailed some information on this Wookie Jedi during a nice interview with io9. Apparently, the Jedi's name is Burryaga Agaburry, who Soule has described as a "very, very sensitive Jedi." That's a fairly intriguing description and has us thinking that he will be the "good boi" of this era.

It's a precious little detail and one that could make the character really endearing. Light of the Jedi will introduce him and we're hoping to see Burryaga Agaburry more in the future, maybe even in a Marvel Comics series. While we've seen Wookie Jedi in the past, that was back in the old extended universe that is no longer considered canon, being part of the "Legends" timeline.

Star Wars: Light of the Jedi is slated for an August 25 release.
