Star Wars: The Force Awakens Score Hints at Luke's Crossover to the Dark Side

The Force is strong in Luke Skywalker. While this is a double-edged sword that holds both possibilities of Luke choosing either the Light or the Dark side, he has shown in Return of the Jedi that he isn't easily seduced by the latter. However, the Star Wars: The Force AwakensSoundtrack could be hinting at a chance for Luke's change of heart.

Luke (Mark Hamill) only had a brief appearance in The Force Awakens. We already know that he has been in self-exile in Ahch-To, but other than that, not much is known about what exactly he has been up to over the past 30 years. Well, there's a possibility that it has something to do with the Dark Side.

A new theory suggests that the Jedi Master may have been in hiding because he could be following his father, Darth Vader.

According to Moviepilot, if you listen closely to The Force Awakens score during that moment where Luke finally faces Daisy Ridley's Rey at the end, the the section between 00:50 and 00:01:10 sounds unusually similar to Vader's imperial march as well as the Emperor theme.

The theory is based on the fact that legendary composer John Williams crafts his scores to "specifically" relate to a movie's characters and plot points.

The theory is extremely observant and quite far-fetched in my opinion. Every character in the Star Wars Universe has both the Light and the Dark Side in them. If anything, Williams' score could simply be referring to this fact. Luke is, after all, the son of Darth Vader, one of the most formidable Sith Lords in Star Wars. No doubt he has a strong urge for both Light and the Dark, he just chose not to act on the latter.

Still, anything is possible. It is Star Wars.

In any case, we'll know if this is true when Star Wars: Episode VIII hits theaters on December 15, 2017.
