Star Wars: Resistance Reborn Teases Wedge Antilles’ Return

The Rebellion's ace pilot Wedge Antilles (Denis Lawson) is reportedly set to make a return in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and now it looks like the legend is making an appearance in Star Wars: Resistance Reborn as well.

Star Wars just recently shared an emotional preview of the upcoming Rebecca Roanhorse novel Star Wars: Resistance Reborn on its official website and the studio puts the spotlight on Wedge's return. The book which is set to arrive next week features a story where the remnants of the Resistance continue the fight against the First Order despite the depleted manpower and the depleted resources after the beating the group took in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

In the excerpt, fans get to see Wedge try to "face the past, present, and what may be a dark future." We get to learn about the life that Wedge has lived retiring from the Rebellion. Wedge was Poe Dameron's (Oscar Isaac) teacher – meaning the Resistance's ace pilot learned from the best. The excerpt sees Snap Wexley (Greg Grunberg) visiting his old teacher, and the pilot gets updated about news of the Resistance. Snap tells Wedge about what happened in the battle at Crait, and how it took the lives of so many of the people that they had worked with. The pilot names the fallen like Admiral Holdo, Ackbar, Statura. He gives the name of one of the most important losses – Luke Skywalker (Mark Hamill) and that sends Wedge in a huge state of shock.

This is probably the story that features Wedge's return to the Fight, though we can't be sure yet until the book comes out on November 5.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
