Fans of Disney XD's Star Wars: Rebels already know that the show is set in the early stages of the Rebellion between the events of Revenge of the Sith and A New Hope, but the remainder of Season 2 seems to show a strong connection to the latest film.
In this video from Entertainment Weekly, there's one surprising shot that may surprise fans: Eza Bridger, the young Jedi in training (voiced by Taylor Gray), uses a crossguard lightsaber similar to the one Kylo Ren wielded in Star Wars: The Force Awakens – but this one is green and looks more sturdy.
As we've learned from a Disneyland display of props for The Force Awakens, Ren's saber, with its distinctive laser quillons, was an “ancient design” that the the Darth Vader obsessed young man recreated himself in crude fashion.
