Star Wars: Poe Dameron Comic Artist Shares His Take on The Mandalorian

We have just recently gotten some big reveals with Jon Favreau's upcoming series Star Wars: The Mandalorian, and we even got a first look at the protagonist of the show. Phil Noto, the artist behind the Poe Dameron comic, gives us a great rendition of the Mandalorian in his style.

Check it out:

Longtime fans will also recognize the gun that the character is wielding which is the same type of rifle that Boba Fett wielded in the Star Wars Holiday Special—specifically an Amban phase-pulse blaster. We don't know if this is the official weapon or just Noto's take, but it would be cool if the show could have that as an Easter Egg.

It's also worth noting that the look of the main character also harkens back to the cancelled Star Wars game, 1313, which is said to focus on a young Boba Fett carrying out jobs in Coruscant during the rise of the Empire. We don't know how much of that game will be salvaged for this show, but we know that the bandolier strap and rifle are lifted from concept art.

Quite honestly, I don't know what to expect from The Mandalorian, but seeing that Favreau has proven himself as a director, he must have something interesting planned for the series. Not to mention, the other directors taking on their own episodes like Bryce Dallas Howard, Taika Waititi, Deborah Chow, and Rick Famuyiwa seem to be very great choices.

Did I also mention that Clone Wars and Rebels creator Dave Filoni is helming the pilot?

We don't know when Star Wars: The Mandalorian will come out, but it's expected to launch alongside Disney's streaming service sometime in 2019.
