Star Wars: Leia Takes Luke Skywalker's Lightsaber in New The Rise of Skywalker Teaser

There are several reasons why people are already looking forward to Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. However, a new TV spot for Episode IX may have given us yet another reason to be excited about the film. The teaser offers a glimpse at Leia Organa holding a lightsaber and it appears to be Luke Skywalker's old weapon.

The teaser opens with a sweeping look at the planet where Rey is undergoing some training while Luke says that, "We've passed on all we know. A thousand generations live in you now. But this is your fight."

Interestingly, we get our first glimpse at Leia holding the lightsaber when Luke says that the generations of Jedi live in you now. Not surprisingly, there are already speculations that Luke might actually be talking to Leia instead of Rey. However, the film clearly focuses on Daisy Ridley's character so we're not really expecting The Rise of Skywalker to be all about Leia.

It's an awesome teaser of what to expect in The Rise of Skywalker and it might once again confirm that Leia is the one who is overlooking Rey's training on the mysterious planet. Could this mean that Luke had given Leia some training as well in the past? The truth will be revealed this December.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will bring back Ridley along with Adam Driver, John Boyega, Oscar Isaac, Anthony Daniels, Joonas Soutamo, and Mark Hamill. The late Carrie Fisher will also return as Leia. The film will premiere on December 20.
