Star Wars’ John Boyega Thinks Baby Yoda is Much Cuter Than 'Vile, Disgusting Porgs'

Baby Yoda might be a 50-year-old child, but everyone's fallen in love with the adorable surprise character from Star Wars: The Mandalorian. That includes Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker's John Boyega.

The Baby Yoda phenomenon has finally caught on among the cast and crew of Lucasfilm's next Star Wars movie, and as it turns out, the sequel trilogy's Finn actor is a huge fan of The Mandalorian's little runt.

Speaking in an interview with The USA Today to help promote the third and final film in Star Wars' sequel trilogy, Boyega was asked what he thought of Baby Yoda.

"So cute, man. I love Baby Yoda," Boyega told the entertainment news outlet, "And you know what? I'm against everyone that wants to give that baby another name except for Baby Yoda. That is Baby Yoda."

Though fans have taken to calling the character Baby Yoda, The Mandalorian's green 50-year-old baby isn't in any way a reincarnated or earlier version of Star Wars' popular Jedi Master. After all, Favreau's live-action Star Wars series takes place years after the fall of the Empire. Yoda died in Star Wars: The Return of The Jedi.

Still, the facts don't matter to Boyega. Baby Yoda, is in fact, to him, Yoda.

"I don't care about the timeline," Boyega adds. "I don't care that it doesn't make sense. That's Baby Yoda."

The actor also thinks that Baby Yoda is much better than porgs. Though Boyega says that he's kept his thoughts open about porgs, he also thinks that they're "vile, disgusting creatures," – a description which comes as quite a surprise considering how fans loved porgs in Star Wars: The Last Jedi.

Star Wars: The Mandalorian is currently streaming on Disney+. Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, on the other hand, is set to premiere on December 20, 2019.
