Star Wars: Episode IX Might Not Have A Major Role For Lando

A few months ago, Lucasfilm made an official casting announcement for Star Wars: Episode IX, listing down all the sequel and original trilogy stars that were set to appear in the studios third and final sequel trilogy installment. Thanks to the announcement, fans got a complete announcement about who exactly would be returning in Episode IX, and after years of silence, Billy Dee Williams is joining the fanfare, bringing back Lando to the big screen. Now, the only question left is how long and how large is Lando's role in Episode IX?

While many fans expect a longer and more important role for Star Wars sexy smuggler in Episode IX, Making Star Wars' new report suggests that Williams doesn't have a very large role in the movie. Of course, a brief appearance doesn't necessarily put down Lando's value in The Last Jedi sequel. Lando might actually be playing a part similar to Maz Kanata, a supporting character that helps Rey (Daisy Ridley) in her journey as a Jedi.

That's not all. Making Star Wars report also suggests a familiar look for Lando in Episode IX saying that the smuggler will be wearing a fancy blue cape, a cane, and a yellow shirt for his ensemble. Those who've seen Solo: A Star Wars Story might remember that the outfit is very similar to the one that Donald Glover wore as young Lando. Lucasfilm may be trying to tie the two together by having Lando wear the same outfit again.

Star Wars: Episode IX premieres December 20, 2019.
