Star Wars: Empire’s End Confirms Chewie’s Son

Changes in the Star Wars universe are happening. And while some of them are behind the scenes as actor changes, there are also those happening in new and official novels that extend the universe.

For instance, Chewbacca, Han Solo's trusted ally, is now a father. Screen Rant spotted the little detail in the new novel, Star Wars Aftermath: Empire's End. In exploring his backstory, it was revealed that Chewie actually has family who are still alive in his own world. And among these relatives is his son.

His son Waroo was actually a Wookiee who had tried to free some of the young ones in a child labor camp. He had been in the middle of a skirmish with Imperial officer Dessard. And before he encountered any fatal dealings with him, Chewbacca arrives to save his son from danger.

This opens up several possibilities, one of which is the chance for Chewie's life to be explored further in the spinoff Han Solo movie.

Considering how the Star Wars Aftermath series explores these nuggets of stories, these are a great way to not just expand the universe, but also have more fodder on which this expansion can be applied to other mediums and forms.
