Star Wars: Chewbacca Actor Joonas Suotamo Joins the #MakeSolo2Happen Movement

Today marks the one-year anniversary of Solo: A Star Wars Story, and The Resistance Broadcast has started this campaign on Twitter to get Lucasfilm's attention and #MakeSolo2Happen. The topic has already gotten to trending online, and now Chewbacca actor Joonas Suotamo is in on it too.

Check out his tweet:

Though Suotamo is involved, the fans are still hoping to get more reactions from higher-ups in the Lucasfilm family. At best we want a response from director Ron Howard or maybe even Solo co-writer Jon Kasdan. Hopefully we can get enough buzz to catch the attention of Lucasfilm president Kathleen Kennedy.

When Solo underperformed in the box office, it led to Lucasfilm eventually halting all the other anthology projects in the franchise like the Obi-Wan and Boba Fett movies. It's such a shame too since a lot of people agree that Solo was a pretty great film; it was just a case of bad marketing and heavy box office competition (Avengers: Infinity War, Deadpool 2) that really hurt its performance.

At the very least fans want Solo to continue as a miniseries for Disney+, but I would honestly love a full on movie. When it comes to TV, you can't expect the same amount of spectacle like what we got with the Kessell Run. Then again, that's just my opinion.

For now, you can join the campaign to #MakeSolo2Happen on Twitter. Catch Joonas Suotamo when he reprises Chewbacca in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker in theaters Dec. 20.
