Star Wars Celebration Is Returning Next Year In Anaheim

Star Wars Celebration might have taken a break last year but after a successful run in Chicago last weekend it looks like the Star Wars gathering is ready to return full-force next year, this time in Anaheim, California.

Speaking with fans during the closing ceremony for the 2019 Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, Lucasfilm announced that it would be bringing back Star Wars Celebration next year in Anaheim, California. Of course, it's a bit too early to announce the convention's dates, but we might be able to expect them in the months to come.

Having Star Wars Celebration in 2020 might sound like a surprise to some – last year the event took a bit of a break, returning in 2019 to gather fans for major Star Wars news in Chicago.

While there won't be any feature film from Lucasfilm to serve as the center of attention during next year's Star Wars Celebration, we can't wait for any sort of announcement from the studio. Disney CEO Bob Iger said that the Star Wars film franchise would be taking a break after the release of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker later this year, so we're not betting on Star Wars film announcements next year.

We can probably expect more Star Wars shows though – right now the studio is working on Star Wars: The Mandalorian, a live-action series by Jon Favreau, and then an upcoming Rogue One: A Star Wars Story prequel series featuring Captain Cassian Andor (Diego Luna).

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker premieres December 20, 2019.
