Star Wars Battlefront II's Loot Box System is Pissing People Off

Over the weekend, the Star Wars Battlefront II beta kicked off and players have learned the game's problem: the loot box system is terrible.

In Battlefront II, players get loot boxes to acquire new abilities and crafting materials to make and upgrade weapons, but it takes hours to get a single loot box and there's no guarantee that you'll get something you want because the items inside are completely random. If you want to speed up the process of getting loot boxes, you'd have to spend real money to purchase them.

Even though Battlefront II is a full-priced game, it's set up like a free-to-play game, meant for games that typically have a system that lets users pay to unlock additional content faster.

YouTuber AngryJoe shared a video discussing how horrible the game's progression system is, calculating how long it would take to unlock every gun in the game.

AngryJoe says that it would take 3,600 hours of play to unlock every gun in the game. That's an insane amount of time that only players with spare time to waste can afford.

Many players who want to have an even battlefield in multiplayer games online despise the idea of "paying to win". The game is still on beta so it's likely that the system will change by the time it comes out on November.

Star Wars Battlefront II will be available on November 17 for Xbox One, Playstation 4, and PC.
