Star Wars Author Chuck Wendig Fired From Marvel Comic Books Shadow Of Vader

Chuck Wendig has just announced that he has been fired by Marvel from the new comic books Shadow of Vader. Interestingly, the cut was done just a week after his involvement in the Star Wars series was confirmed at the New York Comic-Con.

The Hyperion writer made the announcement on Twitter with a series of shocking posts. Wendig revealed that the real reason he was fired had nothing to do with his work on Shadow of Vader. Take a look at his tweet below.

"Today I got the call. I'm fired. Because of the negativity and vulgarity that my tweets bring. Seriously, that's what Mark, the editor said. It was too much politics, too much vulgarity, too much negativity on my part," Wendig wrote. "Basically, because I was not civil."

The Aftermath author also admitted that he believes it was purely a Marvel decision, meaning that Lucasfilm was not involved in his firing. He did point out that it sounded pretty familiar to what happened to James Gunn, who was removed from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 because he "riled up the wasp's nest of asterisk-gate."

Wendig ended his announcement with an interesting message:

"To conclude: this is really quite chilling. And it breaks my heart. I am very sad, and worried for the country I live in, and the world, and for creative people all around. Courage to you all.
I have a dire fear this is going to get a whole lot worse before it gets better."

It's certainly a shock for people who were looking forward to what Wendig has in store for Shadow of Vader. In the meantime, it is still unclear who will take over in the highly anticipated comic book series.

Marvel and Lucasfilm have not issued a statement about the author's firing.
