Star Wars Artist Unveils Stunning Saw Gerrera Concept Art For Rogue One

Saw Gerrera has always been a Star Wars character who took extreme measures in the fight for freedom. Interestingly, Rogue One: A Star Wars Story almost made the leader of the Partisans look as dangerous as he sounds. Unused concept art for the 2016 film reveals Saw's original look and it might terrify even the Stormtroopers.

The concept art was shared by Industrial Lights & Sounds senior art director Aaron McBride on his official Instagram account. Check it out below.

The illustration seems to suggest that Saw was supposed to look more like a machine than a man. In addition to that, he appears to have a collection of Stormtrooper helmets. We're hoping that those helmets were collected peacefully but knowing that Saw is an extremist makes it rather unlikely. Either way, it's a great look at what the character almost looked like while Rogue One was being developed.

Saw has appeared in two animated shows Star Wars: The Clone Wars and Star Wars Rebels. He also shows up in the novelization of Solo: A Star Wars Story as well as the books Catalyst: A Rogue One Novel and Rebel Rising. Saw only had a small role in Rogue One but fans loved seeing Forrest Whitaker play the character in the film. Whitaker reprised the role in the upcoming EA video game Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order where Saw has a mission for the young Padawan Cal Kestis.

Saw will return in Star Wars Jedi: Fallen Order, which will be available on Windows, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One on November 15.
