Star Wars Actress Daisy Ridley Keeps It Real With Empowering, Force-Inspired Post

Daisy Ridley is no reality star, but she's probably one of the most honest and real actresses in Hollywood.

On Monday, the 24-year-old The Force Awakens star posted a heavily-edited selfie on Instagram with the text: "I woke up like this #nofilter #nomakeup"

That's not to say it's what the actress really meant with the post though. Along with the photo, Daisy included a very empowering and transparent message about her own self-esteem and insecurities. Of course, she also mentioned how she handles such anxieties like the Force.

Her exact words were:

Social media is great but also a bit scary cause what people post is the most filtered, most carefully chosen and cleverly edited moments of their lives. And self esteem is a huge issue for people around the world.
My skin isn't great so I don't post no make up selfies, much as I'd like to; I have a trainer urging me on in workouts and don't include all the times I say ‘I can't do it' and I don't smile all the time but I like to share the pictures where I am.
But I actually do love myself. I try to think good thoughts always and am surrounded by the most wonderful people, so I'm keeping it balanced (like the Force, obvs). Just thought I'd say :)

Take a look at the post:

What a wonderful thing to share on social media.

It's not the first time that the actress shared some words of encouragement and proved herself an inspiration despite a tricky situation.

Early last month, a Star Wars fan criticized Ridley for not being a real woman because she doesn't have curves. Ridley responded in the classiest of ways and without shaming the fan on social media.

In many ways, Ridley is the perfect actress to play the heroine Rey in the new Star Wars trilogy. She's proving herself to be the perfect role model for little girls and women, and it's high time that the characters girls look up to doesn't involve having tiaras. Not that there's anything wrong with the values of princesses in the past, but isn't it much better to idolize someone who can actually kick ass in a film?

Daisy Ridley will return as Rey in Star Wars: Episode VIIIon December 15, 2017.
