Daisy Ridley is easily one of Hollywood's most promising stars of the last five years and the fact that she has yet to star in a comic book film doesn't sound right, in fact, it almost sounds criminal. Of course, her tight Star Wars schedule may have been a factor for her not landing other opportunities outside the Lucasfilm bubble but now that she's been relieved of her Skywalker saga duties, it's safe to assume that it's only a matter of time before we see her in a superhero project.

In fact, Marvel fans have been lobbying for years to see the Rey actress get cast as Jessica Drew aka Spider-Woman in the Marvel universe. But according to fans of the DC film universe, Daisy would be a better choice to play Barbara Gordon aka Batgirl in the supposed standalone spinoff film.

The said project has been rumored to be in development for about seven years now but we've yet to get a promising update from both Warner Bros. and DC regarding the film. Now, in a new development, WB has confirmed that they're moving forward with their Batgirl project which will be released on HBO Max. We're quite unsure whether it will be a film or a series but given the fact that the streaming service will be the home of the project, it's safe to assume that it will be a show.

The actress who will play Barbara Gordon in the project has yet to be revealed but digital artist @britedit is already hyping up the upcoming offering, depicting Daisy as the iconic female DC superhero. Check out his awesome artwork below:

As a longtime fan of the Batman saga, I personally believe Daisy would kick major a** as Batgirl but if I had things my way, I'd love for the project to be set in the current DC Extended Universe timeline and have her fight crime alongside Ben Affleck's version of the Dark Knight. However, the chances of it being an elseworld story like Robert Pattinson's The Batman are extremely high so I wouldn't exactly bet on Gordon being part of the DCEU in the near future.

Meanwhile, Zack Snyder's Justice League hits HBO Max this March 18.
