Star Wars Actor Oscar Isaac Has Some Advice For The Last Jedi’s Critics

Star Wars: The Last Jedi might have been a massive commercial and critical success for Lucasfilm, however, the sequel to The Force Awakens also became one of the most polarizing films in the Star Wars franchise, dividing the fanbase into two.

While some loved how the film added to the Star Wars sequel trilogy's lore and gave out witty commentary on the franchise, others didn't quite like how the film subverted fan expectations and turned the ever-cool Luke Skywalker into a jaded hermit.

Because of their dislike for the film, some fans have gone as far as personally attacking the cast and crew of The Last Jedi sending actresses like Kelly Marie Tran and director Rian Johnson insulting messages online. Now, speaking with Yahoo! Entertainment, Star Wars sequel trilogy star Oscar Isaacs has decided to give some advice to those who hated the film.

"What I think is really special about the whole thing — particularly for people that really didn't agree with where the story went — is that it's often a great inspiration to do your own stuff," Isaac told the publication. "Obviously, making your own Star Wars movie is a bit of a tough challenge, but at least from a narrative standpoint maybe you make your own thing and then show what you would want. Make what you would want to see."

Of course, channelling all those frustrations into a creative outlet might sound well and good, but Star Wars fans have to remember that this comment doesn't necessarily mean that they can go ahead and take matters into their own hands by asking Disney to remake their films. Maybe instead they can write fan fiction, or they can write an original script of their own. There's a whole lot of creative ways to help dissipate all of that negative energy.

Lucasfilm's next Star Wars movie, Episode IX, is set for release on December 20, 2019.
