Star Wars: A New Hope Gets Amazing '80s Anime Trailer

The first Star Wars film is certainly one of the best movies of all time. But what if it was made as an anime flick back in the 1980s? A new fan-made trailer reimagines A New Hope as an awesome animated film complete with Japanese dialogue.

The trailer was created by YouTube user Dmitry Grozov. The video opens with Luke Skywalker contemplating his fate in Tatooine, remembering Biggs Darklighter's words of advice. However, the trailer quickly picks up on the action, showing beloved characters like C-3PO, Princess Leia, and Chewbacca. There's even a brief glimpse at the lightsaber duel between Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. In addition to that, the trailer uses John Williams' awesome scoring.

It's a well-made fan trailer that makes you wonder if Star Wars truly needs an anime remake. The idea certainly sits well with fans of A New Hope who are now begging Disney to work on the film as soon as possible.

Although it is unlikely that we'll be seeing an anime remake of A New Hope anytime soon. However, anime fans can still look forward to Star Wars Resistance, the new animated series that focuses on events that take place before The Force Awakens.

Star Wars Resistance will follow Kazuda "Kaz" Xiono (Christopher Bean), an aspiring young pilot who is recruited by the Resistance to spy on the First Order. Kaz will work with an elite group known as the Aces to fulfill his mission.

The series will feature Oscar Isaac as Poe Dameron, Adam Driver as Kylo Ren, and Gwendoline Christie as Captain Phasma. BB-8 is set to play a major role in the show as well. Rachel Butera has also confirmed that she will provide the voice of General Leia Organa.

Star Wars Resistance will premiere on the Disney Channel on October 7.
