Spider-Man: Homecoming Casts Its Tinkerer

Stage actor Michael Chernus has been been cast to play The Tinkerer in Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Deadline reports that Chernus will star as Phineas Mason, the billiant super-villain/inventor who goes by the name The Tinkerer. This confirms that there will be more than one villain in the film since the concept art already confirmed that The Vulture will also appear in the film.

The 39-year-old American actor will join Tom Holland, Michael Keaton, Zendaya and Donald Glover in Homecoming.

Chernus is best known for his role as Piper Chapman's brother Cal in the Netflix series Orange is the New Black.

At SDCC 2016, Watts told IGN that his film would be "a high-school movie. A straight-up high school movie about a 15-year-ol kid. This is the ground level of the Marvel Universe."

Spider-Man: Homecoming will hit theaters on July 7, 2017.
