Spider-Man Far from Home: Set Photos Give Us Look at J.B. Smoove's Character

While familiar characters are coming back for Spider-Man: Far from Home, there have been some new faces cast in the movie; one in particular is J.B. Smoove. Smoove is said to be playing an important character in the movie, and we get a first look at him on set with Peter Parker's Science Bowl circle.

Check it out:

A lot of people suspect that Smoove is actually playing a new version of The Daily Bugle's J.J. Jameson. Since Peter still has a long way before he graduates high school, it's possible that this J.J. is not the editor-in-chief, but is only a simple reporter for the Bugle. Seeing him tag along with the kids and their teacher makes me think that he was forced to cover their story, and by the time Mysterio attacks, Jameson will be the only reporter on the scene, earning him a promotion by the end of the film.

Of course, speculation that Smoove is J.J. could totally be wrong, but there are a lot of signs that he could be Peter's future boss. For one, Smoove is a hilarious, fast-talking actor—perfect for J.J. who exists mostly for comic relief. It's also kind of a coincidence that he goes by J.B., as the last actor who played J.J. went by J.K. (as in J.K. Simmons).

If anything, Marvel Studios and Sony are probably holding back on any big reveals for now. After all, this will be the first MCU film to come out after Avengers 4, and finding out more about this movie could potentially spoil how A4 ends. I'm guessing the big Far from Home reveals will come after May 3, 2019.
