Sega has finally announced the release date of Sonic Forces, one of the new games coming out to celebrate the character's 25th anniversary, the other one being the acclaimed Sonic Mania. Players will be able to "join the resistance" later this year on November 7, with plenty of special DLC add-ons to those who pre-order the game.

Fans that pre-order the physical bonus edition will get extra gear for their created characters, all of which are based on Sega properties. The pre-order DLC will be based on Jet Set Radio, Nights Into Dreams, Super Monkey Ball, Puyo Puyo and Persona 5. It looks like we found the reason why Sega bought Atlus. All joking aside, the gear should make Sega fans happy and having more options for created characters is never a bad thing.

Gameplay-wise, Sonic Forces is technically a sequel to Sonic Generations. Players can switch between classic Sonic and modern Sonic, as they try to save the world from a new foe named Infinite. The two Sonics will be joined by the player's created character, who can either be a bear, bird, cat, dog, hedgehog, rabbit or wolf. It's a fan-fiction writer's dream come true, and makes you wonder why it took Sega so long to make this feature.

Can Sonic Forces continue the successful streak that Sonic Mania started? Fans can find out on November 7. The game will be available on every major gaming system, such as the PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and Windows PC. The bonus edition will come with controller skins for PS4, Xbox One and Nintendo Switch, along with the aforementioned DLC.
