Solo Star Donald Glover Wants A Lando Movie Based On “Catch Me If You Can”

It looks like Donald Glover wants a Lando spinoff too. The smooth gambler might not be the central character in Solo: A Star Wars Story but a lot of fans are expecting the Atlanta star's version of Lando Calrissian to be a scene stealer in Lucasfilm's upcoming spinoff. Not only does Lando have impeccable style, he's also considered one of the most debonair characters in the Star Wars franchise.

Screen Rant just recently had an interview with Glover to ask him where he'd like to see Lando next in Lucasfilm's galaxy far, far away. Would Glover want to see Lando in another spinoff? Would he want the character to have a film of his own?

According to the multi-talented actor, he actually likes the idea of Lando starring in his own space con artist adventure film with the same vibes as Catch Me If You Can by Steven Spielberg.

"I really just want to see him, like doing all of that. Still doing anything. Like, I think that would just be fun to just see him just like... Because like, we see him change so much... He's just like, I think charismatic and people are like, you know what, you should own this city. You should own Cloud City, like that kind of thing, or like winning. So I think it would be just nice to see like, oh, like I'm a General, and now I'm mad at this hotel, and then now, I'm just like... I think that will be just funny but also cool to see like how far charm gets you. Almost like a 'Catch Me If You Can. A space 'Catch Me If You Can.'"

Glover isn't the only one who wants a Lando spinoff. Solo: A Star Wars Story co-writer Jonathan Kasdan also expressed interest in a Lando Calrissian movie, saying that he was dying to see the gambler get his own film. According to the filmmaker, it'd be a new challenge, because Lando would finally get to fill in the same space that "Han occupied in earlier films" and be given the burden of being a protagonist.

The clamor for a Lando spinoff, of course, is no surprise. There's a lot of love for the charming scoundrel and many love Lucasfilm's decision to cast Glover in the role.

It's going to be exciting seeing Glover's Lando in Solo: A Star Wars Story which premieres on May 25.
