Solo A Star Wars Story: Qi'Ra's Fighting Style was Supposed to be Jyn's in Rogue One

Star Wars expanded universe fans are familiar with the Teras Kasi fighting form, and the style was officially mentioned as Qi'Ra's fighting method in Solo: A Star Wars Story. What's interesting is, the style was supposed to have been introduced way earlier—back in 2016, in Rogue One.

Lucasfilm's Gary Whitta explains:

The form had actually been canonized way earlier with the game Star Wars: Uprising, but this is the first mention of Teras Kasi in an actual film.

In Legends, Teras Kasi was an ancient form created to specifically fight against Jedi, who had the advantage of the Force when they fought. It's also worth noting that Teras Kasi was the fighting form of Darth Maul, which he integrated with his dual-bladed lightsaber.

With Solo ending with possibility of more sequels, I'm actually looking forward to seeing the returns of the likes of young Han, Lando, and Qi'Ra. With the Boba Fett movie announced as well, some people are thinking that Lucasfilm is planning a loosely connected Star Wars Underground trilogy, with Solo being the first film in the sequence.

Personally, I'm all up for it. With the movies prior to Solo focusing on the plight of the Rebellion and Empire, it's nice to see a self-contained corner of the galaxy with its own kooky characters and adventures.

Solo: A Star Wars Story is now in theaters.
