Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings Will Reportedly Start Filming This November

Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings is considered another landmark movie for Marvel Studios since it will feature an Asian lead for the very first time. While there have been Asian characters before, they've never been the lead protagonist and fans are hoping that this will be a pleasant surprise, especially with the actual Mandarin popping up. It wouldn't be bold to proclaim that actor Ben Kingsley will appear so that he can be killed.

It seems like the film is going to begin production soon since the film's production list was shown on Reddit, stating that Shang-Chi will start filming on November 1. With the movie slated for a 2021 release, the production date makes a ton of sense and it's going to be fun seeing a bunch of BTS photos.

Personally, I can't wait and see how they bring the character to life and if they'll give him some sort of uniform. The character doesn't really have a goofy costume in Marvel's comics, aside from his early one that played to Asian stereotypes (it was a different time and likely considered progressive back in the day).

Considering how the Shang-Chi movie is expected to be a major part of Marvel's phase four, we can only hope that it ends up being a promising project. The start of phase four might seem a bit slow and unexciting for fans since it's going to focus on newer heroes like Marvel's Eternals and a Black Widow prequel, so Shang-Chi and the others will need to stand out.

Shang-Chi and the Ten Rings comes out on February 12, 2021.
