Shane Black's Predator Movie Will Take Place In The Suburbs

Fox has several franchises under its belt including that of X-Men and Kingsman, but they're also working on yet another Predator movie, this time with Shane Black in the helm. The movie looks to be different from the other Predator films before it, and it will take place in a curious setting—suburbia.

Talking to Variety, 20th Century Fox CEO Stacey Snider explains:

"The franchises we make still need to be original. Deadpool was part of a cinematic universe, but it felt unique. We've got a Predator film coming out that is unexpected and utterly fresh. I just imagined that it would take 500 hours to read the script — that it would be interior jungle, exterior more jungle and then fighting happens, but Emma [Watts] went out and recruited Shane Black."

From the first page, it didn't read like a Predator film. It's set in suburbia. There's a little boy and his dad at the center of the action. X-Men is a franchise we intend to vigorously mine, but with an eye toward great variety. Kingsman can be a franchise. It's based on a graphic novel, but it's really the creation of Matthew Vaughn and his wild imagination."

Granted almost every other Predator movie takes place in a jungle, I'm imagining The Predator will have a slasher feel to it, with the predator going around a neighborhood and killing people one by one. It's probably not the most Predator-like premise, but fans could use something fresh.

As for the cast, you have names like Olivia Munn, Boyd Holbrook, Thomas Jane, Keegan Michael Key, and Edward James Olmos.

The Predator is set to come out Aug. 3, 2018.
