Sebastian Stan On What Would Happen If Steve And Bucky Went After The Soul Stone In Avengers: Endgame

There's a lot of things that fans weren't expecting to happen in Avengers: Endgame. For instance, people were surprised when Natasha Romanoff and Clint Barton ended up going to Vormir. But what would have happened if it was Bucky Barnes and Steve Rogers who had to find the Soul Stone? Sebastian Stan has an interesting theory about how the two will manage to procure the Infinity Stone.

Stan recently attended the Jus In Bello convention in Italy where he was asked how Bucky and Steve would deal with the problem of having to claim the Soul Stone (via Comicbook.com). Not surprisingly, the Avengers: Infinity War star immediately pointed out that his character would be willing to sacrifice himself so the heroes can win in Endgame.

"Wow. [Steve] would probably be like, ‘I got this.' And [Bucky] would have been like, ‘No, I should be doing this,'" Stan said. "No, I think it would have been a fight, and I probably would have tried to — I should be the one, after everything, to take the leap, so to speak. But knowing him, he probably wouldn't let me."

Getting the Soul Stone isn't the only thing that Stan was worried about. He also pointed out that Steve and Bucky might have a problem as soon as they arrive on Vormir and discover that they have to deal with Johann Schmidt.

"I don't know, that's a crazy question. Jesus. And then the Red Skull was there," Stan said.

Of course, it's best to remember that Bucky was one of the people who were dusted away when Thanos snapped his fingers in Infinity War so it would be impossible for him to go with Captain America to Vormir. Either way, we're happy with what happened in Endgame.

Stan is expected to reprise his role as Bucky in the Disney+ series Falcon and The Winter Soldier.
