Ron Howard Weighs In On Taking Over Han Solo

Last week saw the announcement of Phil Lord and Chris Miller being fired from the Han Solo movie and being replaced by Willow director Ron Howard. Though we've heard the sides of Lucasfilm as well as Lord and Miller, we have yet to hear anything from Howard himself, who posted his reaction to the events on Twitter:

Though I would have liked to see what he had to say about Lord and Miller getting removed from the project, it's still nice of him to say that he wants to "honor the great work already done" for the project. Hopefully this time around, Howard will be able to deliver the proper tone and feel of the Star Wars movie that Kathleen Kennedy and Lawrence Kasdan wanted.

Reports have said that Lord and Miller were fired because their style of directing had deviated too much from Kasdan's script, and they were said to value comedy and improvisation is a way that already affected the main story.

Seeing that Kasdan comes from a very old school form of filmmaking, there were probably some script elements that were supposed to mean something else, but the directing duo glossed over it in favor of a joke. A lot of people have commented on how "great" this Han Solo script is, so people are bound to be concerned once the production started straying away from Kasdan's screenplay.

We don't know if this director takeover will cause some significant delays for Han Solo, but the movie is still expected to come out May 25, 2018.
