Rogue One’s Vader Scene Was Also Kept A Secret From The Cast

Star Wars film productions are ferociously protective of their secrets, going to great lengths to make sure that important information regarding the movie's story won't leak out to the public before its release.

Rogue One for example managed to surprise fans with the appearance of a CGI Grand Moff Tarkin and Princess Leia – the two characters weren't expected to appear in the movie.

Now, as the film prepares for its Blu-Ray release next week, Rogue One star Riz Ahmed reveals in an interview with Entertainment Tonight how terribly secretive the production turned out to be.

Apparently director Gareth Edwards had been so protective of the film's climactic Vader scene that none of the cast had known that it would be included in the movie.

"They kept that from us!" revealed Ahmed. "That was never in the script. We didn't know about it! It was the first time we saw it, so it was like, 'Oh okay, the film's finished... Darth Vader? Epilogue? Uh.. .What is going on here?" and we just all started shouting, and cheering and clapping in a screening room -- Yeah, that was a sneaky one, that was sneaky."

Of course, the scene had also been added in last minute. The epic Vader scene was actually shot three months before Rogue One's big premiere. Edwards must have also probably decided to keep the scene a secret from the cast to surprise them during the screening.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story gets its Blu-Ray release this Tuesday, April 4, 2017.
