The cast of the Detective Pikachu movie continues to grow. After nabbing the likes of Ryan Reynolds and Ken Watanabe, the film has just added new cast member, British singer/actress Rita Ora.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Ora's role is still undisclosed, and with the Pokemon talking in this world, she could either be playing a human or a Pokemon. If she were a human character, I guess she would be unlike Ora's real-life job of singer/actress—such is a common trope with detective movies. If not, I would imagine that she was either a talking Jigglypuff or maybe another female Pikachu.
Though some are admittedly baffled that the first live-action Pokemon movie we're getting is Detective Pikachu, I have no doubt that writer Alex Hirsch (creator of Gravity Falls) will bring us something entertaining for both kids and adults. If we're lucky, we might even get a small voice cameo from the likes of Rick and Morty co-creator Justin Roiland.
Detective Pikachu is still currently undergoing production, but we should get out first look sometime later this year. With a premise so bizarre, Legendary Entertainment would want fans onboard as soon as they can.
Detective Pikachu hits theaters May 10, 2019.
