Resurfaced Star Wars Game Concept Art Shows Luke's Jedi Academy As He Mentors A New Generation

The Star Wars community has so far been divided about The Force Awakens and The Last Jedi, so those unhappy about the direction Disney has taken have been thinking a lot about what could have been.

A concept art by talented illustrator and concept artist Cristi Balanescu has recently received some attention on Reddit because it was recently shared by a fan who believes that this is the Luke Skywalker "we should've gotten."

The image in question shows Luke training a group of young Padawan. You see the youngsters wielding lightsabers and levitating rocks using the Force outside the majestic and massive Jedi Academy.

If the artwork looks familiar (check it out below), it's because it was made for the Star Wars: Force and Destiny book based on the 2015 role-playing game of the same name by Fantasy Flight Games.

The art certainly looks amazing and it even gives you that feeling of nostalgia for something that never happened. Maybe it is because of its overall atmosphere, how the massive trees tower over Luke and his students and even the already large academy.

It has that mystic and alluring feel to it and it really does make you want to see the intervening years before Return of the Jedi and The Force Awakens, when Luke set out to become impart his knowledge of the Force at a Jedi Academy, even if it was just a short flashback.

In an alternate universe...The Luke that we should have gotten.

Technically, this is the Luke we got in Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Luke did train younglings, it just wasn't shown in the film. Instead, The Force Awakens jumps to a point in time where the Jedi Academy he built was no more after Ben Solo turned to the Dark Side and became Kylo Ren.

While some fans would've loved to see Luke mentoring a new generation of Jedi, we at least got to see him train Rey even though the third lesson was cut from the film.

Maybe we might still get to see him teach the new Jedi the ways of the Force from the nether realm in Star Wars: Episode IX, which hits the cinemas December 20.
