Regina King Talks About Working On Damon Lindelof's Upcoming Watchmen Series

Though there was some resistance at first, more people are slowly getting into the idea of Damon Lindelof's Watchmen series for HBO. Regina King has been cast in the show, and she talks a bit about working on the follow-up to Alan Moore's iconic graphic novel.

Talking to Variety, King explains:

"… in true Damon fashion, I'm sure I will be guessing from script to script"

King didn't reveal any details about her character, but she did confirm that she had to do a lot of physically demanding things for Watchmen. She says:

"[I] have to eat my Wheaties… I can see myself doing this for a few years… I feel grateful to be this close to 50 and still being able to run and hop over stuff."

It's worth noting that King had worked with Lindelof with The Leftovers, and when she was handed the script for the show, Lindelof was said to have wrote her a note saying that he had written the character for her and he "could not think of a better woman to lead this. So I hope you see this and enjoy this as much as I did writing it. And let's do this."

Based on the set photos and clues that have come out, there's a lot of evidence that this show isn't a remake of the comic, but more of a sequel. It looks like we'll be following the present day years after Ozymandias' fake alien attack, and shelters from invaders can be spotted in certain locations.

Hopefully the show manages to live up to the reputation of the comic.

HBO's Watchmen comes out sometime in 2019.
