Ray Park Seemingly Hints That Maul Had A Bigger Role In Solo

Star Wars fans were pretty surprised when they saw Maul appear at the final act of Solo: A Star Wars Story. No one really expected the former Sith Lord to pop up in Han Solo's (Alden Ehrenreich) very own standalone film at all. However, while Star Wars fans couldn't help but gush over the short cameo appearance of the Dathomirian Zabrak, it seems like Maul might have actually had a larger role in Solo.

Yesterday, Darth Maul actor Ray Park shared a post on Instagram firing back shots at fans who've been commenting about how out of shape Maul seemed in Solo. While Park's post seems like a direct response to some critics fat shaming his character on screen, some also speculate whether or not Park could have actually been preparing for a larger role in Solo.

"I worked my butt off to play Maul in Solo even though I knew I had no action to do," Park wrote on the post. "For Solo, I was getting a good 3-4 hours in of training with a serious hip injury."

Those who've seen Solo know that Maul's appearance in the film was very short and the former Sith Lord barely did anything physical while on the big screen. So why would Park have to train at least 3 to 4 hours a day for the Han Solo spinoff? Did the production want him to work on a more physical scene?

Right now there hasn't been any confirmation as to how long Maul was supposed to be in Solo – though we do know that the film's screenwriters Jon and Lawrence Kasdan always wanted the iconic character to be in the film. Hopefully, we'll get to see more of Maul in a future Solo sequel.
