Possible Reason Behind Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’s “Composer Situation”

It's already expected that Alexandre Desplat will be the composer for Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, but a new report is saying that this may not be the case right now.

According to MSW, a trustworthy source close to Rogue One's "composer situation" claims has revealed some interesting information about the issue. The source reportedly said:

There's some business issues. At this point there is no contract in place and it is a bit contentious. They're looking at two other composers for the film should it go another way.

Apparently, the problem isn't that Desplat isn't involved in the project, the issue is that the composer has still not been given a contract as of a month ago. There are also other composers being considered to create the film's scores.

The site also notes that Desplat has not been officially announced by Disney-Lucasfilm as Rogue One's composer.

It's quite intriguing since it's assumed that some sort of formal announcement will be held with the release of the film's first trailer, but that hasn't happened yet.

With Award-winning composer John Williams involved in the score for the last seven Star Wars films, it's honestly unthinkable at this point if any other composer will be making the music for future Star Wars films. This recent Rogue One composer issue could just be some sort of distraction so that it wouldn't be a big deal that Williams isn't taking part in Rogue One's music.
