Possible New Details on the Plot of DC’s Joker

After Shazam!, the only other DCEU movie coming out this year is Joker starring Joaquin Phoenix. The trailer looks amazing, but we don't really have any details on the plot. Thanks to Splash Report, however, we could be getting a good idea of how the film will play out.

According to the site, protagonist Arthur Fleck is an aspiring stand-up comedian who has mental health issues, and one particular tic he has is that he can't control it when he laughs. His mother, who used to work for the Waynes as a housekeeper, is said to be trying to contact her old employers but has mostly been ignored.

Other details say that Thomas Wayne is running for mayor and that the poor people of Gotham have started to revolt against him since he's the voice of the rich. What's more, Arthur ends up killing some Wall Street guys in a subway after trying to save a young woman, and this leads to come kind of movement fueled against the upper class.

I'd go into more details, but if all of this is accurate, then I would've spoiled a lot of other things. So if you want the full leak, you're just going to have to click here. I warned you.

The site did have this to say about Phoenix's performance in the film:

"I am guaranteeing an Oscar nomination for Joaquin Phoenix. His Arthur Fleck is incredible. For a while, I thought his Johnny Cash would be his signature performance. I think we'll be proven wrong in 5 months. Robert De Niro has a very juicy role, and he could potentially be in the conversation come award season."

I love the trailer for the film, and with Shazam! and Aquaman embracing the more Marvel-y tropes of superhero films, I can't wait for something dark, gritty, and mature.

Catch the R-rated Joker when it hits theaters Oct. 5.
